Flagler County Clerk’s Office Goes Paperless: Restrooms Not Included

Effective August 1, 2014 the Office of the Flagler County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Courts Division will be “paper on demand”.

Palm Coast, FL – August 1, 2014 – With the affirmation of the Hon. Terence R. Perkins, Chief Judge of the 7th Judicial Circuit, effective August 1, 2014 the Office of the Flagler County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Courts Division will be “paper on demand”. In essence, this allows the Clerk’s Office to build and maintain all court case files in an electronic format and establishes the electronic image as the “original”. Paper copies would then only be generated upon request.

This is a notable improvement over the Clerk’s current case management practice that requires building extensive paper files. These paper files are then imaged and indexed in the Clerk’s case management system for added document accessibility to our Judicial and Law Enforcement partners, the legal community as well as Clerk team members. While necessary during this transition, the redundant practice of keeping two sets of records is coming to a welcome end.

This new decree will greatly minimize paper retention requirements allowing for a more streamlined process and optimization of current resources. This task has not been quick or easy, as it has taken a number of years of software development and planning to facilitate this initiative. As electronic images and online access become the norm, the Clerk’s Office is working toward the goal of providing court case images per the Supreme Court’s directions to the public.
