Development Order for New Chick fil A Approved by Palm Coast

If my incoming emails are any indication, lots of people are looking forward to this new addition to Palm Coast’s dining choices.

Palm Coast, FL – September 25, 2014 – All good things are worth waiting for. The development order has been approved for a Chick fil A at the former Perkins Family Restaurant location on the northwest corner of Palm Coast Pkwy NW and Boulder Rock Drive. The developer’s next steps are to submit for a permit to demolish the existing building and apply for a building permit for the new 4,390 square foot structure.

I talked about this and other new construction in “Palm Coast Real Estate Rumors and News Bites for June 18th.” Now, three months later, you can see what the new building will look like.

Chick fil A’s corporate website describes the company. “It all started in 1946, when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville, Georgia. Credited with inventing Chick-fil-A's boneless breast of chicken sandwich, Mr. Cathy founded Chick-fil-A, Inc. in the early 1960s and pioneered the establishment of restaurants in shopping malls with the opening of the first Chick-fil-A Restaurant at a mall in suburban Atlanta in 1967. Since then, Chick-fil-A has steadily grown to become the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, based on domestic annual sales with over 1,800 locations in 40 states and Washington, D.C. In 2013, annual sales were over $5 billion. Chick-fil-A is still privately held and family owned. With 46 consecutive years of positive sales growth, Chick-fil-A has set itself apart by pioneering innovations and delicious products—including the ever-popular Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich.”

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A began opening stand-alone restaurants in high-traffic locations starting in 1986. The chain now has over 1200 stand-alone locations. Chick fil As can be found nearby in St. Augustine, Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach.

"Nearly every moment of every day we have the opportunity to give something to someone else—our time, our love, our resources. I have always found more joy in giving when I did not expect anything in return." –from Eat Mor Chikin: Inspire More People by S. Truett Cathy, Founder, Chick-fil-A, Inc. Cathy died September 8, 2014 at the age of 93.

    Great news

Finally! The best fast food restaurant in town, other than Steak & Shake. I’m looking forward to seeing it open.

I do agree that we need a more restaurants in town. It is very limited in Palm Coast. The City needs to entice more business in the area.

    Not more unhealthy fast food

Flagler county has so few good restaurants that I can’t believe people are excited about more greasy unhealthy junk food coming to town. Blue in flagler beach (arguably the best restaurant in the area) just closed, more bad news. If a Chipotle grill were opening instead I could understand people being excited as they offer much healthier options ,with French fries not being one of them.

    last thing we need

Why can’t we get a restaurant like Chili’s or Applebee’s or any real restaurant. We have no healthy choices in Palm Coast its either fast food or pizza!!! Most of us would like a choice for a nice sit down restaurant. Can’t go to Carraba’s or Ruby Tuesday’s everynight!!! This was a huge mistake!!

    Why complain!

Instead of focusing your negativity, how about the positive? More taxable revenue for the area and jobs. If your not happy with your dining choices write to corporate HQ of the places you’d like to see and and inquire with them about the possibility of them opening a franchise here!
