Palm Coast Yacht Club’s Holiday Boat Parade Blessed with Great Weather
After two years of uncharacteristically bad weather, 22 lighted vessels in 2014 parade motored by our location on the Intracoastal Waterway under fine weather and a full moon.
Palm Coast, FL – December 7, 2014 – Third time’s a charm. After two years of uncharacteristically bad weather, Palm Coast Yacht Club’s 2014 Holiday Boat Parade motored by our Tidelands location on the Intracoastal Waterway under fine weather and a full moon. Both the moon and the decorative lights reflected on the water.
Twenty-two boats participated. This year’s Grand Marshall was Mayor Jon Netts. The Sheriff’s department provided two boats for safety; one to lead the parade, the other to follow it. Also participating were boats from Fish and Wildlife and Towboat US.
Two years ago, the fog was so thick that those on boats in the parade could not see either shoreline. Only seven boats ventured out that year. Last year’s parade was cancelled under a severe weather warning. The warning turned out to be an understatement. A tornado touched down near the Cimmaron Basin starting point.
Boat show
There were 70 – 80 people on the gazebo at GRand Haven, where the boats were originally scheduled to turn around. Too bad most boats decided to turn considerably short of the gazebo, preventing all the folks there to miss the full affects of the holiday lights. Perhaps we’ll join you guys next year, to get the best view.
Boat Picture
If you can send me the picture of the boat with the moon in background I would appreciate it. danettepoto@gmail.com That is PEACE, our boat.
I asked my husband to forward the comment about the fact that not all boats went all the way to the gazebo at Grand Haven. Next year they should communicate with Grand Haven and then communicate with all boaters to be sure they know exactly how far south to go before turning around.
Boat Parade
I am sorry that all of the boats did not complete the entire route. All boats were instructed at our meeting that morning to follow the sheriff’s boat to the gazebo at Grand Haven. They should then turn around and return. I will do my best to correct this next year.

P.S. It would be great for the homes along the Intracoastal to turn on some lights. It really helps the boaters navigate.
