Real Estate News Nuggets – Palm Coast and Flagler County

Seagate Homes, Flagler Beach, Cypress Golf Course, Island Walk, commercial building permits, city landscaping of SR 100

PALM COAST, FL – May 28, 2015 – The local economy has improved.   Flagler County’s unemployment rate is down to 6.1%.  The area is growing.  The population of Flagler County recently topped 100,000 while Palm Coast’s population crossed the 80,000 mark.  More jobs and more people help revive the real estate market.  Here’s what’s going on locally.

Seagate Homes

Park Place by Seagate Homes, Palm Coast, FLSeagate Homes, Palm Coast’s largest home-grown builder, formally introduced its newest gated community, Park Place.  The builder is now accepting reservations for house/lot packages.  Prices for the 123 home sites start from the $170’s.  The community will include a large central lake, clubhouse and pool.  Park Place is located on 37.73 acres in the “P” Section of Palm Coast, off Pine Grove DriveThe master-planned community will be patterned after Rivergate, another Seagate community.

Flagler Beach

Flagler Beach has a new restaurant. The Island Grill opened this week in space once occupied by Blue, at the Topaz on A1A South.  The five owners are well known locals:

  • Joe Rizzo and Chris Zwirn are co-owners of Woody’s BBQ and Bull Creek Restaurant.
  • Gary Maresca was formerly chef at Blue.
  • Carla Cline spent years at Snack Jack’s.
  • David Alfin is a local Realtor and co-host with me on the Sunday morning (9:00 A.M.) talk show, Real Estate Matters (WNZF).  David once had a Boar’s Head distribution business in the Catskill Mountains of New York.

Leroy’s at Cypress Golf Course

As one new restaurant opens, another shuts its doors.  Jacksonville-based Leroy’s has recently been managing the restaurant at Cypress Golf Course. Unfortunately, they have decided to discontinue their local operation.  Saturday night will be their last at Cypress.  The future of the Cypress restaurant facility is uncertain.

Island Walk

Two more building permits were issued for new construction in Island Walk, the name of the revamped Palm Harbor Shopping Center on Palm Coast Pkwy.  Shell building D, carrying a stated contractor value of $279,929 will have 4,589 square feet.  Shell building C will have 4,293 square feet and has a stated construction value of $261,873.  The two buildings will be west of the new Publix, which is still under construction.

SR 100 Landscaping

The City of Palm Coast issued themselves a permit for landscaping and irrigation improvements along SR 100 from Interstate 95 to Roberts Road.  The construction is valued at $522,922.  The contractor is Sun State Nursery and Landscaping.
