More positives for the Area –

Last week the official ‘ Digging In ‘ Event occurred at 29 Casper Drive, Palm Coast, Flagler County, Florida. We early purchasers regularly utilized the ‘water taxis ‘ from 69 Clubhouse Drive , over the Intracoastal to the Bon Terre public Dock, its’ acreage, and Boat Landing – then a shuttle would transport us to Hammock Dunes and our Beaches.
This historic property is owned by Dr. Mery Gloria Gutteriez-Gable. As Steward of this Historic Property Dr. Mery applied for and the State of Florida Historic Committee unamimously APPROVED this for yet another State of Florida Historic MARKER for this location and Area.

    It reads:

Levitt and I.T.T. ‘ The De Bary ‘ Model

Levitt & International Telephone & Telegraph Corp. (ITT) developed 22,000 acres in Flagler County as part of the Palm Coast Project. Their goal was to construct the largest planned community in the nation. Full of scenic drives, golf courses, and a marina, Levitt & I.T.T. engaged in an international marketing campaign on three continents to generate interest. As part of the ‘Levitt Showcase Golf Course Neighborhood’ the ‘De Bary’ model was the showcase of the nine advertised Contemporary houses. Built in 1971, this house features a stucco exterior, wide gable front, and a central gated courtyard. Casper Dives named in honor of golf legend William Casper, was the first street laid in the Palm Coast Project and was the only access road to the 18-hole golf course. Every prospective buyer was offered an official guided tour of the community’s many amenities. The residents of Casper Drive played an important role in the growth of Palm Coast and occupants of the ‘De Bary’ were just as involved. The house’s first owners, Walter and Anna Kopecky who purchased the house in 1972 actively worked to draw potential homeowners to the area.

When time permits I will soon prepare yet another ‘packet’ and include all this to be sent and added to ‘ The Smithsonian ‘ reference collection there.

Additionally, PAWS, INc., the owners of ‘ Garfield ‘ prepared a ‘ Garfield ‘ text with disc – including ‘ Garfields’ Bicycle Tour of Palm Coast ‘. PAWS, Inc. sent this to ‘ The Smithsonian ‘ Collection with a CC: to me. It is really neat !

As an aside, ever since I asked PAWS to do this, Garfield has been calling me every night. Garfield wants me to committ to having Lasagne for him for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner and for desserts here in Palm Coast. I keep telling Garfield that I can’t do this; he has an attitude about this…damned cat…I reminded Garfield that he may visit again for Flagler Countys’ Centennial in April 2017 to lead a Parade here again. I told him that Lasagne Ice Cream my be offered to him if he leads a Parade here again. I did not receive a call from him last night….WHY ?…I told Garfield that I think the Cafeterias at ‘ The Smithsonian ‘ have unlimited Lasagne. I think Garfield will soon be ‘…leaving on a jet plane…’ – destination: the Cafeterias .
