Nesting Pair of Bald Eagles Raising Family in Palm Coast, Florida Gated Community

LandMar’s Grand Haven hosts an eagle’s nest in Wild Oaks village

March 17, 2008 – Palm Coast, FL – You can’t watch these eagles on the internet as you can the ones at Ginn’s Tesoro development in Port St. Lucie, Florida, but LandMar Group’s Grand Haven community has its own nesting pair. Saturday, I saw an adult arrive to feed offspring. Sunday, we witnessed one fledgling spreading its wings in the wind as it stood on the edge of the huge nest. It looked like it will soon be flying.

Grand Haven eagle nest location, Palm Coast, FloridaWild Oaks is the name of LandMar’s final community within Grand Haven, a gated community surrounding a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. Located on the west side of Colbert Lane, it consists of estate sized lots, walking trails and a small passive park near the entrance. A tall pine in the center of the park has attracted a nesting pair of bald eagles. The nest can be observed best from within the park, but it can also be seen from Colbert Lane at a point just north of the Wild Oaks entrance across from Forest Park Estates. Another pair of eagles can be found at Eagle Lake, a development along Old Kings Road near Old Dixie Highway.

Wild Oaks is a new development and does not appear on the map below.
