March 2, 2015 – Sixty-five percent of retirees say they're living in the best homes of their lives, according to a new Merrill Lynch study conducted in partnership with Age Wave. But many retirees – free from work and family restrictions – will choose to move. The study, "Home in Retirement: More Freedom, New Choices," found that 64 percent of retirees are likely to move at least once during retirement, with 37 percent having already done so and 27 percent planning to relocate.

February 26, 2015 – Flagler Beach Commissioners vote at 5:30 tonight on the second and final reading of an ordinance changing construction requirements of new homes built in the city. If enacted, the new ordinance will require the finished floor elevation of any new home to be one foot higher than presently required. The goal is noble, but the unintended consequences are not.
February 26, 2015 – At current tax rates, City of Palm Coast residents (in tax district 61) who take advantage of Florida’s Homestead Exemption get up to $854.90 knocked off their property tax bill. The deadline for qualifying for a Homestead Exemption for the 2015 tax year is March 1. Do it or lose it. Since March 1 is a Sunday this year, applications will be accepted through Monday, March 2nd.
February 25, 2015 – Florida’s housing market reported higher median prices, more new listings and the continued stabilization of inventory in January, according to the latest housing data released by Florida Realtors®. Closed sales of single-family homes statewide totaled 16,087 last month, up 10 percent over January 2014.
