The ABCs of How Not to Erect a Sign
The site where an ABC Liquor Store is being built sports a CVS Coming Soon sign.
Palm Coast, FL – May 7, 2010 – A GoToby.com reader is more alert than a sign company employee. Chuck Durkee noticed the sign company’s mistake as he drove by the ABC Liquor Store construction site at the northeast corner of Palm Coast Pkwy and Old Kings Road. The company had just completed erecting two signs there announcing "COMING SOON – CVS Pharmacy – America’s #1 Pharmacy." Unfortunately the CVS will be built across the road on the southeast corner currently occupied by the "Blue Roof" (Palm Coast Real Estate office).
Chuck’s timing was perfect. As he was snapping pictures of the misplaced signs to send to GoToby, the sign installer was also taking pictures; presumable to document his fine work.
hmmmm….
I know there are people who prefer self-medicating with spirits & tonics purchased at the ABC liquor store rather than consulting physicians and obtaining prescription medication to "cure what ails ’em"….but calling it a Pharmacy might just be going a little too far!!!
LOL 😉
What a deal drive in Liquor
That’s the first thing many will see as they enter Palm Coast’s East side Palm Harbor.I was hoping they actualy sold to CVS as that would be a better location. The many that use the Publix in the Palm Harbor Shopping Plaza, will soon have to go to the very busy intersection and waite for the light, (which is almost three minutes a cycle), to cross to the new CVS. Many will opt to go to the more convenient Walgreens as it is closer to the many that shop by walking from the many condos nearby. To try to walk to the CVS would now be a nightmare, especialy with the new widening, that will make the cross of PCP on foot a frightfull occurance. The thoughts are that since Publix is also in the pharmacy business, they may just open the walls of the stores, that sit vacant between them and the existing CVS, and put in more shopping, plus a drug store. The new CVS will have a drive through, but they won’t have the foot traffic they now have from the many that shop the Publix, in Palm Harbor Shopping Plaza. ABC we don’t need. The city should have denied the permit, as it will be a highly unwelcomed site to look at.
ABC
I remeber when ABC used to have drive up windows where you could actual get a drink to go. I rember one on (Park Avenue) Rt. 17 in Orange Park, used to have a line at the time the Navy Based first shift ended every day.
ABC Store can be Useful and Attractive
I was in Gainesville this week and had the chance to visit the local ABC store there. I was pleasantly surprised to find a well-lit and very clean interior with spacious aisles and great selections of wines, liquors, beers, assorted food stuffs and mixers et al. They also had a premium wine climate-controlled area with fabulous foreign and domestic wines. In addition, they had a huge cigar humidor with top shelf cigars, as well as, more affordable ones. They had a cigar lounge and a cafe where they served great food and wonderful wines by the glass. I believe that there is certainly a place for this type of establishment in Palm Coast. Oh, by the way, did I mention that the prices were better than any other place that I’ve bought these items in Florida.

1. While you may desire a different business on the ABC Liquor Store site, it is a permitted business for the existing zoning. Property owners have rights too. The city did what they could to make the store as attractive as possible.
2. The last work on Publix that I heard was that they were going to redo the interior but not expand the present store size.
