Walmart and Other Old Kings Road Rumors

The new Walmart will probably be smaller. Construction is likely to begin after the first of the year.

Palm Coast, FL – September 10, 2010 – Walmart closed on their Old Kings Rd property in late June. At that time, I reported they may reconsider their original Supercenter site plan. I’ve since learned that they will likely submit a revised site plan to the City of Palm Coast for approval in time to commence construction after the first of the year. The new location will be Walmart’s second Supercenter in Palm Coast, FL.
The original plan called for a 187,000 square foot building included a car care center and one outparcel. A scaled down 150,000 square foot plan will eliminate the car care center and some retail space. At least one outparcel will be added.
Just down the Road at Kings Pointe Commercial Center (at the northeast corner of State Road 100 and Old Kings) look for a new building going up soon on parcel 3. This first building to go vertical in that development will house a medical clinic and some retail space. Parcel 3 is across the road from Coconuts Carwash.

    Walmart

they could also do without the grocery store space so it will still give Winn Dixie and Publix their own competition as now. The nursery section will be welcomed!

    What we don’t need

Another Walmart is not what we need here, they have driven all the small business’s out of business, ruined the lively hood of hard working people. The one that is occupied now in Palm Coast is a disgrace to the community, it is dirty and in dire need of paint and bleach. I hope that one will close and something else will take it’s place.
We need more greenspace for the kids that live here. Let the commission chew on that one…we are taxpayers, not ones to be stepped on…on another building project…Did we really need an ABC liquor store here? That is also going to run out the small business owner that has been here for years…let’s keep the greenspace we have…we love our trees. Remember??
